The park has a 3km walking track that takes the curious visitor
on a gentle stroll around the perimeter past native plantings &
birds. A three minute stroll down the drive takes you to the Playhouse Café & Theatre Restaurant, about to become the social hub of the area.

Mapua
Just five minutes' drivefrom Skylarks Coastalstay is the charming seaside
township of Mapua, very popular with locals and visitors alike.
Mapua Wharf is now home to cafés, a smoked fish business, three restaurants,
aquarium, gallery, kayak hire and exhilarating jet boat excursions.
The Coastal Highway from Nelson to Motueka passes through the main
apple growing area of the region, past vineyards and olive groves.
It also boasts the highest concentration of art studio/galleries,
cafés and wineries outside the city.
Nelson city
The City offers a vast array of attractions from cafés
and restaurants, to shopping and galleries, walks and parks. Nelson
is home to its own unique and renowned arts & music festivals.

Nelson is unique in New Zealand in that it has 3 spectacular national
parks at close proximity. For a taste of the big outdoors, visit
any of our 3 living treasures- Abel Tasman National Park, Nelson
Lakes National Park and Kahurangi National Park, all within 1 hour's
drive from Skylarks Coastalstay.
Abel Tasman National Park
Abel Tasman National Park is New Zealand’s smallest national
park and is renowned for its golden beaches and its world-famous
coastal track. It also has a mild climate and is a good place to
visit at any time of the year. Hire a kayak, walk the track, take
a boat trip.
Nelson Lakes National Park
Nelson Lakes National Park is located south of Nelson, and is home
to the northernmost peaks of the Southern Alps. This 102,000 hectare
park is centered on two beautiful alpine lakes, Rotoiti and Rotoroa,
both surrounded by steep mountains and fringed to the shore by dense
beech forest.
Kahurangi National Park
Created in 1996, Kahurangi is New Zealand's newest national park. It is a geologically complex area. Parts of the region are
limestone or marble, creating the awesome contrasting landscapes which
provided such a stunning backdrop for the filming of Peter Jackson's Lord of The Rings trilogy.
Alan & Alicia are happy to share their extensive knowledge
of these parks and surrounding areas.
